Indication

Used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes alone are insufficient to control blood glucose.

Ingredients

• Gliclazide 60 mg (modified release)

Direction

Adults: 30–120 mg once daily with breakfast. Swallow whole — do not crush or chew. Dose adjusted based on blood glucose response.

Side effects

• Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
• Gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea
• diarrhea
• abdominal pain)
• Skin reactions (rash
• urticaria — rare)
• Hepatic enzyme elevation (rare)

Precautions

• Contraindicated in type 1 diabetes
• diabetic ketoacidosis
• severe renal or hepatic impairment.
• Risk of hypoglycemia — especially if meals are skipped
• excess alcohol consumed
• or dose too high.
• Use with caution in elderly patients and those with renal impairment.
• May interact with fluconazole
• NSAIDs
• beta
• blockers
• and other antidiabetic agents.
• Monitor blood glucose regularly.
