Indication
Topical antiseptic for disinfecting the skin and for first-aid treatment of minor cuts, scrapes, abrasions and minor burns to help prevent infection; also used for skin disinfection before minor procedures and for wound care.
Ingredients
- Povidone
- iodine 10% (equivalent to 1% available iodine)
Direction
For external use only. Clean the affected area, then apply a small amount of solution directly or with sterile cotton/gauze 1 to 3 times daily. The area may be covered with a sterile dressing once dry. Read the package leaflet carefully.
Side effects
- Local skin irritation
- redness or itching
- Rarely
- allergic (hypersensitivity) reactions to iodine
- stop use and seek medical advice
- Temporary brown staining of skin
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs
Precautions
- For external use only
- do not swallow
- Do not use if allergic to iodine or povidone

- Avoid use in people with thyroid disorders
- during pregnancy or breastfeeding
- and in newborns unless advised by a doctor
- Do not use on large wounds
- deep wounds or severe burns or for prolonged periods without medical advice
- Avoid contact with eyes
- Keep out of the reach of children
