Coxil Celecoxib

Indication

A selective COX-2 inhibitor (NSAID) used for the symptomatic relief of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, acute pain, and primary dysmenorrhoea.

Ingredients

• Celecoxib 200 mg

Direction

Adults: 200 mg once daily or 100 mg twice daily. For acute pain: 400 mg on the first day (as two 200 mg doses), then 200 mg twice daily. Take with or without food.

Side effects

• Common: stomach pain
• diarrhoea
• dyspepsia.
• Headache
• dizziness.
• Oedema.
• Increased cardiovascular risk with long
• term use.
• Rarely: serious skin reactions
• elevated liver enzymes.

Precautions

• Not recommended in patients with known cardiovascular disease or high risk (may increase risk of heart attack and stroke).
• Contraindicated in patients with sulfonamide allergy.
• Avoid in peptic ulcer disease or history of gastrointestinal bleeding.
• Use with caution in renal or hepatic impairment.
• Contraindicated in the third trimester of pregnancy.
• Keep out of reach of children.
