Indication
A selective COX-2 inhibitor (NSAID) used for the symptomatic relief of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, acute pain, and primary dysmenorrhoea.
Ingredients
- Celecoxib 200 mg
Direction
Adults: 200 mg once daily or 100 mg twice daily. For acute pain: 400 mg on the first day (as two 200 mg doses), then 200 mg twice daily. Take with or without food.
Side effects
- Common: stomach pain
- diarrhoea
- dyspepsia.
- Headache
- dizziness.
- Oedema.
- Increased cardiovascular risk with long
- term use.
- Rarely: serious skin reactions
- elevated liver enzymes.
Precautions
- Not recommended in patients with known cardiovascular disease or high risk (may increase risk of heart attack and stroke).
- Contraindicated in patients with sulfonamide allergy.
- Avoid in peptic ulcer disease or history of gastrointestinal bleeding.
- Use with caution in renal or hepatic impairment.
- Contraindicated in the third trimester of pregnancy.
- Keep out of reach of children.
