Promephac 25mg

Indication

An antihistamine used to treat allergic conditions (urticaria, rhinitis), nausea, vomiting, motion sickness, and as a sedative/premedication. Also used for the management of insomnia.

Ingredients

• Promethazine hydrochloride 25 mg

Direction

Adults: 25 mg at bedtime for sedation or allergy. For nausea/motion sickness: 25 mg taken 30 minutes before travel. Doses should be taken with food or milk.

Side effects

• Drowsiness
• sedation (common).
• Dry mouth
• blurred vision
• urinary retention.
• Confusion or paradoxical excitation in children.
• Rarely: extrapyramidal reactions.

Precautions

• Causes significant drowsiness — do not drive or operate machinery.
• Not recommended for children under 2 years — risk of fatal respiratory depression.
• Avoid alcohol and other CNS depressants.
• Use with caution in elderly patients
• and in patients with glaucoma or urinary retention.
• Not recommended during pregnancy without medical advice.
• Keep out of reach of children.
