PIYROX Piroxicam 20mg

Indication

Piroxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain and inflammation in conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and acute musculoskeletal disorders.

Ingredients

• Piroxicam 20 mg

Direction

Adults: 20 mg once daily, taken orally with food or milk to reduce stomach upset. Do not exceed 20 mg per day. Not recommended for children under 12 years.

Side effects

• Nausea
• dyspepsia
• abdominal pain
• diarrhoea
• or constipation.
• Gastric ulceration or gastrointestinal bleeding (especially at higher doses or with prolonged use).
• Dizziness
• headache
• or oedema.
• Skin rash or pruritus.
• Elevated liver enzymes or renal impairment (rare).

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to piroxicam or other NSAIDs
• or if you have had asthma
• urticaria
• or allergic reaction after taking aspirin or NSAIDs.
• Avoid in patients with active peptic ulcer disease or gastrointestinal bleeding.
• Use with caution in patients with heart failure
• hypertension
• or renal/hepatic impairment.
• May increase risk of cardiovascular events (heart attack
• stroke) with prolonged use.
• Avoid use during the third trimester of pregnancy.
• Do not use concomitantly with other NSAIDs
• anticoagulants
• or lithium without medical advice.
• Long
• term use should be monitored by a physician.
