Deanxit 0.5 mg / 10 mg

Indication

Mild to moderate depression and anxiety, including psychogenic and neurotic depression, masked depression, psychosomatic complaints with anxiety and apathy, menopausal depression, and dysphoria and depression in alcoholism and drug addiction.

Ingredients

• Flupentixol 0.5 mg (as dihydrochloride)
• Melitracen 10 mg (as hydrochloride)

Direction

Oral, as directed by the doctor. Adults: usually 2 tablets a day, one in the morning and one at noon; in severe cases the morning dose may be increased to 2 tablets (maximum 4 tablets a day). Elderly: 1 tablet in the morning. Maintenance: usually 1 tablet in the morning. Avoid taking late in the day if sleep is disturbed.

• tiredness
• Rarely: abnormal movements (extrapyramidal symptoms)
• fast heartbeat
• skin rash

Precautions

• Prescription medicine (dangerous drug)
• use only under medical supervision
• Do not use with MAO inhibitors (or within 2 weeks of stopping them)
• after a recent heart attack
• with heart block or rhythm disorders
• or in narrow
• angle glaucoma
• Not for very excitable or overactive patients
• or in circulatory collapse or CNS depression (e.g. alcohol or sedative poisoning)
• Caution in epilepsy
• enlarged prostate
• liver disease and in the elderly
• avoid alcohol
• May affect alertness
• take care when driving or operating machinery
• Avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless advised by the doctor
