Indication
Centacid is an antacid used to relieve symptoms of heartburn, acid indigestion, upset stomach, and gas. It neutralises excess stomach acid.
Ingredients
- Aluminium hydroxide 200 mg
- Magnesium hydroxide 200 mg
- Simethicone 20 mg
Direction
Adults: 1–2 tablets or 10–20 mL suspension, taken 20–60 minutes after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by a doctor. Chew tablets before swallowing.
Side effects
- Constipation (aluminium component).
- Diarrhoea (magnesium component).
- Nausea — uncommon.
Precautions
- Do not use in patients with severe kidney impairment.
- Avoid prolonged use without medical supervision.
- May interact with certain antibiotics (tetracyclines
- fluoroquinolones) — take at least 2 hours apart.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Consult a doctor if symptoms persist for more than 2 weeks.
