Centacid Antacid

Indication

Centacid is an antacid used to relieve symptoms of heartburn, acid indigestion, upset stomach, and gas. It neutralises excess stomach acid.

Ingredients

• Aluminium hydroxide 200 mg
• Magnesium hydroxide 200 mg
• Simethicone 20 mg

Direction

Adults: 1–2 tablets or 10–20 mL suspension, taken 20–60 minutes after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by a doctor. Chew tablets before swallowing.

Side effects

• Constipation (aluminium component).
• Diarrhoea (magnesium component).
• Nausea — uncommon.

Precautions

• Do not use in patients with severe kidney impairment.
• Avoid prolonged use without medical supervision.
• May interact with certain antibiotics (tetracyclines
• fluoroquinolones) — take at least 2 hours apart.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Consult a doctor if symptoms persist for more than 2 weeks.
