Indication
Amlodipine tablets are calcium channel blockers used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina pectoris (chest pain).
Ingredients
- Amlodipine 5 mg or 10 mg (per tablet)
Direction
Adults: 5 mg once daily initially; may be increased to 10 mg once daily based on response. Take at the same time each day, with or without food.
Side effects
- Peripheral oedema — very common.
- Flushing
- headache
- dizziness — common.
- Fatigue
- nausea — common.
- Palpitations — uncommon.
- Gingival hyperplasia — rare.
Precautions
- Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
- Monitor blood pressure closely — may cause hypotension.
- Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice.
- Do not stop the medication abruptly.
- Keep out of reach of children.
