Indication

Diane-35 is a combined oral contraceptive containing cyproterone acetate (antiandrogen) and ethinylestradiol, used for contraception and treatment of androgen-dependent conditions in women such as moderate-to-severe acne, seborrhoea, and hirsutism.

Ingredients

• Ethinylestradiol 35 mcg
• Cyproterone acetate 2 mg

Direction

Take 1 tablet daily for 21 consecutive days, starting on Day 1 of the menstrual cycle. Follow with a 7-day tablet-free interval during which withdrawal bleeding occurs. Then start the next pack.

Side effects

• Nausea
• headache
• breast tenderness — common.
• Mood changes
• decreased libido — common.
• Weight gain — common.
• Venous thromboembolism — uncommon but serious.
• Hypertension — uncommon.
• Liver disorders — rare.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in women with personal or family history of venous thromboembolism.
• Contraindicated in cardiovascular disease
• stroke
• severe hypertension
• and migraine with aura.
• Contraindicated in liver disease or liver tumours.
• Contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
• Increases risk of VTE — inform your doctor of risk factors.
• Does not protect against STIs.
• Keep out of reach of children.
