Megat Sus Almagate 1.5g

Indication

Almagate is an antacid used to relieve symptoms of heartburn, acid indigestion, stomach upset, and gastroesophageal reflux. It neutralises excess stomach acid and has a mild protective effect on the gastric mucosa.

Ingredients

• Almagate 1.5 g

Direction

Adults: Take one sachet (1.5 g) orally, 1–3 hours after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by a physician. Shake well if suspension form. Do not exceed 6 sachets per day. Children: Use only on medical advice.

Side effects

• Constipation (aluminium component)
• Diarrhoea (magnesium component)
• Nausea (rare)

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to almagate or aluminium/magnesium
• containing antacids.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment — risk of aluminium and magnesium accumulation.
• May interfere with the absorption of other medications (e.g.
• fluoroquinolones
• iron salts
• tetracyclines) — take other medicines at least 2 hours apart.
• Prolonged use without medical supervision is not recommended.
• Inform your doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding.
