Mixagrip 500mg

Indication

Mixagrip is a combination product used for symptomatic relief of cold and flu symptoms including nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, headache, body ache, and fever. Paracetamol relieves pain and fever; phenylpropanolamine is a decongestant; chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine.

Ingredients

• Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) 500 mg
• Phenylpropanolamine HCl
• Chlorpheniramine maleate

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years: Take 1–2 tablets every 4–6 hours as needed, not exceeding 8 tablets (or as directed) in 24 hours. Take with or after food. Children 6–12 years: Take 1 tablet every 6 hours, or as directed by a physician.

Side effects

• Drowsiness
• dizziness (chlorpheniramine)
• Dry mouth
• urinary retention (antihistamine effect)
• Increased blood pressure (phenylpropanolamine)
• Nausea
• stomach upset

Precautions

• Do not exceed recommended dose — risk of paracetamol hepatotoxicity.
• Do not use with other paracetamol
• containing products.
• Chlorpheniramine may cause drowsiness — avoid driving or operating machinery.
• Phenylpropanolamine: use with caution in patients with hypertension
• heart disease
• diabetes
• or hyperthyroidism.
• Do not use with MAO inhibitors or within 14 days of stopping MAO inhibitor therapy.
• Avoid alcohol during treatment.
• Consult a doctor if symptoms persist beyond 5–7 days.
• Keep out of reach of children.
