Indication
Vitascorbine 500 is used for the prevention and treatment of Vitamin C deficiency (scurvy) and as a dietary supplement to support immune function, collagen synthesis, and antioxidant defence.
Ingredients
- Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) 500 mg
Direction
Adults: 500 mg once daily, or as directed by a physician. May be taken with or without food. Dissolve effervescent tablets in a glass of water if applicable.
Side effects
- Gastrointestinal disturbance: nausea
- diarrhea
- abdominal cramps (dose
- dependent).
- Kidney stones (with prolonged high
- dose use).
- Headache (uncommon).
Precautions
- High doses may cause gastrointestinal upset.
- Use with caution in patients with a history of renal oxalate stones
- high
- dose Vitamin C may increase urinary oxalate.
- Patients with glucose
- 6
- phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency should avoid high doses.
- Interferes with certain laboratory tests (e.g.
- blood glucose
- stool occult blood).
- Keep out of reach of children.
