Spasfon Injectable Phloroglucinol/Trimethylphloroglucinol

Indication

Spasfon Injectable is an antispasmodic used for the symptomatic relief of pain associated with smooth muscle spasm in the gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts, including irritable bowel syndrome, biliary and renal colic, and dysmenorrhoea.

Ingredients

• Phloroglucinol 40 mg
• Trimethylphloroglucinol 10 mg per ampoule (2 ml)

Direction

Adults: 1–2 ampoules (2–4 ml) by IV or IM injection, repeated as necessary up to 3 times per day, or as directed by a physician. For hospital or clinical use.

Side effects

• Generally well tolerated.
• Rarely: allergic reactions (rash
• urticaria
• anaphylaxis).
• Local reaction at injection site.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to phloroglucinol.
• Intravenous use should be performed slowly and under medical supervision.
• Safety during pregnancy: used widely in some countries for obstetric spasm
• but consult a physician.
• Keep out of reach of children.
