Indication
Pylobact H. pylori Kit is a triple therapy combination indicated for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection, used in the treatment of peptic ulcer disease (gastric and duodenal ulcers) associated with H. pylori.
Ingredients
- Omeprazole 20 mg
- Tinidazole 500 mg
- Clarithromycin 250 mg
Direction
Adults: Take the combination as directed β typically Omeprazole 20 mg + Clarithromycin 250 mg + Tinidazole 500 mg twice daily for 7 days, with or just before meals. Complete the full course even if symptoms improve.
Side effects
- Gastrointestinal: nausea
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- abdominal pain
- metallic/bitter taste.
- Headache
- dizziness.
- Skin reactions: rash.
- Clarithromycin: QT prolongation
- hearing loss (rare)
- hepatotoxicity (rare).
- Tinidazole: peripheral neuropathy with prolonged use.
- Omeprazole: hypomagnesaemia with long
- term use.
Precautions
- Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to proton pump inhibitors
- macrolides
- or nitroimidazoles.
- Avoid alcohol during tinidazole therapy (disulfiram
- like reaction).
- Clarithromycin may prolong QT interval β avoid in patients with QT prolongation or taking QT
- prolonging drugs.
- Clarithromycin interacts with numerous drugs metabolised by CYP3A4 β review all medications.
- Omeprazole reduces gastric acid
- potentially affecting absorption of other medicines.
- Not for use during pregnancy (particularly clarithromycin and tinidazole).
- Keep out of reach of children.
