Sulpiride DNP 50 50 mg

Indication

Used for the treatment of schizophrenia, particularly the negative (deficit) symptoms, and also as an adjunct for peptic ulcer disease and irritable bowel syndrome.

Ingredients

• Sulpiride 50 mg

Direction

Adults (schizophrenia): 200–400 mg twice daily; maximum 1200 mg/day. Adults (GI use): 50 mg three times daily. Take with or without food.

Side effects

• Drowsiness / sedation
• Extrapyramidal symptoms (tremor
• rigidity
• akathisia)
• Hyperprolactinemia (galactorrhea
• amenorrhea)
• Weight gain
• Tardive dyskinesia (with prolonged use)
• QT prolongation (rare)

Precautions

• Contraindicated in pheochromocytoma
• prolactin
• dependent tumors
• and concurrent use with levodopa.
• May cause tardive dyskinesia with prolonged use.
• May prolong QT interval — avoid in patients with cardiac arrhythmias.
• Use with caution in elderly — risk of sedation and extrapyramidal effects.
• May cause hyperprolactinemia — monitor for galactorrhea
• amenorrhea.
• Caution in epilepsy.
