Indication
Treatment of zinc deficiency and as adjunct therapy in acute diarrhoea in children (reduces duration and severity). Also used in the treatment and prevention of growth retardation.
Ingredients
- Zinc sulphate monohydrate equivalent to Zinc 20mg
- dispersible tablet
Direction
Children under 6 months: 10mg once daily for 10β14 days. Children over 6 months: 20mg once daily for 10β14 days. Adults: 20mg once daily. Disperse tablet in a small amount of water before administration.
Side effects
- Nausea
- vomiting
- abdominal pain (usually dose
- related).
- Metallic taste.
- Rare: copper deficiency with long
- term high
- dose use.
Precautions
- Do not exceed recommended doses.
- High doses may interfere with copper and iron absorption.
- Use with caution in patients with renal impairment.
- Keep out of reach of children.
