Indication
Treatment of bacterial infections resistant to amoxicillin alone, including sinusitis, otitis media, lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and animal bite wounds.
Ingredients
- Amoxicillin trihydrate 500mg
- Potassium clavulanate 125mg
Direction
Adults: 1 tablet (500/125mg) three times daily or 1 tablet (875/125mg) twice daily with meals. Children: dose by weight. Take at the start of a meal to minimise GI side effects.
Side effects
- Diarrhoea
- nausea
- vomiting (common).
- Skin rash
- urticaria.
- Hepatic dysfunction (rare).
- Antibiotic
- associated colitis (rare).
- Rare: severe allergic reactions.
Precautions
- Do not use if allergic to penicillin or cephalosporins.
- Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment (monitor liver function).
- Avoid use in patients with history of cholestatic jaundice related to co
- amoxiclav.
- Complete the full prescribed course.
- Keep out of reach of children.
