ALLERGYL Prométhazine 25mg

Indication

Treatment of allergic conditions (urticaria, hay fever, allergic rhinitis), motion sickness, nausea and vomiting, pre-operative sedation, and as a sedative for mild insomnia.

Ingredients

• Promethazine hydrochloride 25mg

Direction

Adults: 25mg at night for allergy/sedation; 25mg 1 hour before travel for motion sickness. For nausea: 12.5–25mg every 4–6 hours as needed. Take with food or milk.

Side effects

• Drowsiness
• sedation (most common).
• Dry mouth
• blurred vision
• urinary retention.
• Dizziness
• extrapyramidal effects.
• Rare: agranulocytosis
• jaundice.

Precautions

• Causes significant sedation
• do not drive or operate machinery.
• Avoid alcohol.
• Contraindicated in children under 2 years (risk of fatal respiratory depression).
• Use with caution in patients with respiratory disease
• glaucoma
• or urinary retention.
• Do not use in pregnancy
• particularly first trimester.
• Keep out of reach of children.
