Indication
Treatment of oedema, inflammation, and traumatic haematoma following surgery or injuries. Also used as an anti-inflammatory adjunct in respiratory conditions to reduce sputum viscosity.
Ingredients
- Chymotrypsin (alpha
- chymotrypsin) proteolytic enzyme
Direction
Adults: 1–2 tablets three to four times daily before meals. Some formulations dissolve sublingually. Follow prescriber or product label instructions.
Side effects
- Nausea
- gastrointestinal upset.
- Rare: allergic reactions.
Precautions
- Do not use in patients with bleeding disorders or those on anticoagulant therapy.
- Contraindicated in patients with hepatic impairment.
- Consult a doctor before use in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Keep out of reach of children.
