Indication

Treatment of mixed bacterial infections including those involving anaerobes, particularly in gastrointestinal and pelvic inflammatory conditions.

Ingredients

• Metronidazole 200mg
• Erythromycin 250mg

Direction

Take as directed by a physician. Usually taken with food to reduce gastrointestinal side effects.

Side effects

• Nausea and vomiting
• Metallic taste (metronidazole)
• Diarrhoea
• Abdominal discomfort
• Rarely: peripheral neuropathy with prolonged metronidazole use

Precautions

• Avoid alcohol during treatment and for 48 hours after stopping metronidazole.
• Use with caution in patients with liver disease.
• Erythromycin may interact with many drugs — check for interactions before use.
• Not for long
• term use without monitoring.
