Indication

Treatment of chronic constipation and faecal impaction in adults and children.

Ingredients

• Macrogol (polyethylene glycol) 4000 10g per sachet

Direction

Dissolve 1 sachet (10g) in a full glass of water (approximately 125ml). Take 1–3 sachets daily according to physician's instructions. Results typically seen within 24–48 hours.

Side effects

• Abdominal bloating and flatulence
• Nausea
• Diarrhoea with excessive doses
• Rarely: electrolyte disturbances with high doses

Precautions

• Not for use in patients with bowel obstruction
• Crohn's disease
• or toxic megacolon.
• Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular or renal impairment.
• Maintain adequate fluid intake during use.
• If abdominal pain is severe or persistent
• seek medical advice.
