Indication
Treatment of hypertension and stable angina pectoris. The combination provides complementary mechanisms for blood pressure and heart rate control.
Ingredients
- Amlodipine 5mg
- Atenolol 50mg
Direction
Take 1 tablet once daily, with or without food, at the same time each day. Do not stop abruptly without medical advice.
Side effects
- Peripheral oedema (ankle swelling)
- Bradycardia
- Fatigue and dizziness
- Cold extremities
- Headache
- Rarely: bronchospasm
Precautions
- Do not stop abruptly — taper atenolol dose to prevent rebound hypertension or angina.
- Avoid in patients with bradycardia
- heart block
- or asthma/COPD.
- Use with caution in diabetes (atenolol may mask hypoglycaemia signs).
- Monitor blood pressure
- heart rate
- and renal function regularly.
- Contraindicated in pregnancy.
