AMOKLAVIN-BID 200mg/28mg

Indication

Treatment of bacterial infections caused by beta-lactamase-producing organisms, including respiratory tract infections, sinusitis, otitis media, urinary tract infections, and skin infections.

Ingredients

• Amoxicillin 200mg
• Clavulanic acid 28mg (as potassium clavulanate)

Direction

Administer as directed by physician, typically twice daily (BID). May be given as oral suspension mixed in water. Take with food to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. Complete the full prescribed course.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea
• Nausea and vomiting
• Rash
• Abdominal discomfort
• Elevated liver enzymes
• Rarely: Clostridioides difficile
• associated diarrhoea

Precautions

• Do not use in patients with known allergy to penicillins or cephalosporins.
• Complete the full course.
• Monitor liver function in prolonged therapy or in patients with hepatic disease.
• Use with caution in renal impairment — dose adjustment may be required.
• Clarify dose as mg/ml for reconstituted suspension if in liquid form.
