Prosan 50 Losartan Potassium USP 50mg

Indication

Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), reduction of the risk of stroke in patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy, and treatment of diabetic nephropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Ingredients

• Losartan potassium 50mg

Direction

Adults: Take 50mg orally once daily. Dose may be increased to 100mg once daily if needed. May be taken with or without food.

Side effects

• Dizziness
• Hypotension (especially with first dose)
• Elevated serum potassium
• Renal impairment
• Upper respiratory tract infections
• Rarely
• angioedema

Precautions

• Contraindicated during pregnancy (especially second and third trimesters) due to risk of fetal harm.
• Avoid concurrent use with ACE inhibitors or aliskiren in patients with diabetes or renal impairment.
• Monitor renal function and potassium levels periodically.
• Use with caution in patients with renal artery stenosis or severe hepatic impairment.
• Avoid potassium supplements or potassium
• sparing diuretics unless directed.
