Indication
Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when diet and exercise alone are insufficient to achieve adequate glycemic control.
Ingredients
- Gliclazide 80mg
Direction
Take 1 tablet orally once or twice daily with meals. Dose adjusted according to blood glucose response under medical supervision. Modified-release formulation: take once daily.
Side effects
- Hypoglycemia
- Nausea
- Gastric upset
- Skin rash
- Rarely
- hepatic dysfunction or blood disorders
Precautions
- Monitor blood glucose regularly.
- Risk of hypoglycemia
- especially if meals are delayed or skipped.
- Contraindicated in type 1 diabetes
- diabetic ketoacidosis
- and severe renal or hepatic impairment.
- Use with caution in elderly patients and those with G6PD deficiency.
- Avoid alcohol.
