Indication

CARBOPHOS (Activated Charcoal 400 mg) is used as an intestinal adsorbent to relieve flatulence, bloating, and dyspepsia associated with excess gas. It adsorbs gases and toxins in the gastrointestinal tract.

Ingredients

• Activated charcoal (Vegetable charcoal) 400 mg per chewable tablet

Direction

Adults: 1 tablet 30 minutes before eating and 2 tablets after eating, or as directed. Chew tablets well before swallowing.

Side effects

• Black stools.
• Constipation or diarrhoea.
• Nausea (uncommon).

Precautions

• Take at least 2 hours apart from other oral medications — activated charcoal adsorbs many drugs.
• Not intended for treatment of acute poisoning at this dose.
• May cause black stools.
• Use with caution in patients with intestinal obstruction.
• Keep out of reach of children.
