Plavix 75mg (Clopidogrel) 75mg

Indication

Plavix (clopidogrel) is an antiplatelet medicine used to prevent blood clots and reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in adults with acute coronary syndrome, recent myocardial infarction, recent stroke, or established peripheral arterial disease.

Ingredients

• Clopidogrel 75 mg

Direction

Adults: One 75 mg tablet once daily, with or without food. Acute coronary syndrome: A loading dose of 300 mg may be given on the first day under medical supervision, followed by 75 mg once daily. Always take as prescribed by your doctor; do not stop without medical advice.

Side effects

• Bruising or bleeding more easily than usual.
• Gastrointestinal bleeding (black or bloody stools
• vomiting blood).
• Nausea
• diarrhoea
• abdominal pain.
• Headache
• dizziness.
• Rash or itching.
• Rarely: serious bleeding events
• thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP).

Precautions

• Do not use in patients with hypersensitivity to clopidogrel or any excipients.
• Contraindicated in active pathological bleeding such as peptic ulcer or intracranial haemorrhage.
• Use with caution in patients at risk of increased bleeding (trauma
• surgery
• haemostatic disorders).
• Inform your doctor before any surgery or dental procedure.
• Avoid concomitant use with anticoagulants
• NSAIDs
• or other antiplatelet agents unless prescribed.
• Use with caution in patients with moderate hepatic or severe renal impairment.
• Proton pump inhibitors (especially omeprazole) may reduce effectiveness
• consult your doctor.
• Keep out of reach of children.
