Indication

Fexofenadine hydrochloride is a non-sedating antihistamine used for the relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) such as sneezing, runny nose, and itchy or watery eyes, and for the treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives).

Ingredients

• Fexofenadine hydrochloride 120 mg or 180 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years: 120 mg once daily for allergic rhinitis; 180 mg once daily for chronic urticaria. Children 6–11 years: 30 mg twice daily. Take with water; avoid taking with fruit juice (grapefruit, orange, apple) as it may reduce absorption.

Side effects

• Headache.
• Drowsiness (uncommon at recommended doses).
• Nausea
• dizziness.
• Dry mouth.
• Rarely: hypersensitivity reactions (rash
• urticaria
• angioedema).

Precautions

• Do not use if hypersensitive to fexofenadine or any excipient.
• Use with caution in patients with severe renal impairment
• dose adjustment may be needed.
• Avoid co
• administration with ketoconazole or erythromycin (may increase fexofenadine levels).
• Avoid taking with antacids containing aluminium or magnesium hydroxide.
• Not recommended for children under 6 years.
• Use with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
• Keep out of reach of children.
