Indication
Gaviscon is an antacid and alginate preparation used for the symptomatic relief of gastric reflux, heartburn, and indigestion associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It forms a protective barrier over stomach contents to prevent acid reflux.
Ingredients
- Sodium Alginate 500 mg
- Sodium Bicarbonate 267 mg
Direction
Adults and children over 12 years: 10–20 mL (liquid) or 2–4 tablets after meals and at bedtime as needed. Shake well before use if liquid. Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours.
Side effects
- Occasional nausea.
- Bloating or flatulence.
- Rare: hypersensitivity reactions.
Precautions
- Contains sodium
- use with caution in patients on a low
- sodium diet
- or with heart failure
- renal impairment
- or hypertension.
- Consult a doctor if symptoms persist beyond 7 days.
- Not recommended for children under 12 years without medical advice.
- Keep out of reach of children.
