Indication
Calvit-D is a calcium and vitamin D supplement used for the prevention and treatment of calcium deficiency, osteoporosis, rickets, and osteomalacia. Vitamin D3 aids calcium absorption and utilisation.
Ingredients
- Calcium gluconate 500 mg
- Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) 200 IU
Direction
Adults: 1–2 tablets daily with meals or as directed by a physician. Children: dose as directed by physician based on age and weight. Chew or dissolve tablets as instructed on packaging.
Side effects
- Constipation
- nausea.
- Rare: hypercalcaemia with excessive intake (confusion
- weakness
- kidney stones).
Precautions
- Avoid in patients with hypercalcaemia (raised blood calcium).
- Do not exceed recommended dose
- excess calcium may cause kidney stones.
- Consult a physician before use in patients with kidney disease.
- Separate from certain medications (e.g.
- tetracyclines
- thyroid hormone) by at least 2 hours.
- Keep out of reach of children.
