Indication
- Bacterial diarrhea - Bacillary dysentery - Giardiasis (infection caused by Giardia) - Enteritis caused by susceptible organisms
Ingredients
- Furazolidone and Sulfadiazine
Direction
Take 1 tablet orally 3 to 4 times daily, typically for 3 to 7 days. It is best taken with food to reduce stomach upset.
Side effects
- Nausea and vomiting
- Headache
- Dark yellow or orange
- colored urine
- Abdominal pain
- Rare allergic reactions (rash
- itching)
Precautions
- Avoid alcohol during and 4 days after treatment
- Avoid tyramine
- rich foods (e.g.
- aged cheese
- red wine)
- Not for patients with G6PD deficiency
- Not recommended for infants under 1 month old
- May interact with MAO inhibitors and antidepressants
