Indication
- Bacterial infections - Upper and lower respiratory tract infections - Skin and soft tissue infections - Pertussis (Whooping cough) - Syphilis and Gonorrhea (as alternative) - Prevention of neonatal conjunctivitis
Ingredients
- Erythromycin
Direction
Take orally on an empty stomach, ideally 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals. If stomach upset occurs, it may be taken with food.
Side effects
- Nausea and vomiting
- Abdominal cramps and pain
- Diarrhea
- Loss of appetite
- Transient hearing loss (with high doses)
Precautions
- Known hypersensitivity to macrolide antibiotics
- Existing liver or gallbladder disease
- History of QT interval prolongation
- May aggravate Myasthenia Gravis symptoms
- Potential for serious drug interactions (CYP3A4)
