Indication
Treatment of herpes simplex virus infections including cold sores (herpes labialis), genital herpes, and herpes zoster (shingles) skin lesions
Ingredients
- Acyclovir 5% (50mg/g)
Direction
Apply a thin layer to the affected area 5 times daily at approximately 4-hour intervals, omitting night-time application. Continue for 5-10 days or as directed.
Side effects
- Mild transient burning
- stinging
- or itching at application site. Rarely: contact dermatitis
- skin dryness
Precautions
- For external use only. Start treatment at the earliest sign of infection (tingling
- redness). Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Does not prevent transmission of herpes.
