Indication

Treatment of severe recalcitrant nodular acne (cystic acne) that has not responded to conventional therapy including antibiotics.

Ingredients

• Isotretinoin 10 mg

Direction

As directed by a physician. Usually taken once or twice daily with food. Swallow capsule whole. Do not crush or chew.

Side effects

• Dry skin
• lips
• and mucous membranes
• Elevated liver enzymes
• Elevated blood lipids
• Night blindness
• Severe birth defects if taken during pregnancy
• Depression and mood changes
• Photosensitivity

Precautions

• STRICTLY CONTRAINDICATED during pregnancy — causes severe birth defects
• Women of childbearing potential must use effective contraception during and for 1 month after treatment
• Prescription only medicine — requires medical supervision
• Regular liver function and blood lipid monitoring required
• Do not donate blood during treatment and for 1 month after
• Avoid prolonged sun exposure
• Keep out of reach of children
