Indication
Axcel Hydrocortisone Cream 1% is a low-potency topical corticosteroid indicated for the short-term symptomatic relief of inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of mild corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses, including eczema, contact dermatitis, insect bites, mild allergic skin reactions and irritant dermatitis.
Ingredients
- Hydrocortisone (micronised) 1% w/w
Direction
For external use only. Apply a thin layer to the affected area of skin 2 to 3 times daily and rub in gently until absorbed. Wash hands before and after application unless the hands are the area being treated. Do not apply to large areas of skin, under occlusive dressings, or for prolonged periods without medical advice. In children use for the shortest period possible and avoid application to the face.
Side effects
- Local burning
- itching
- irritation or dryness at the application site
- Skin thinning (atrophy) or striae with prolonged use
- Telangiectasia
- hypopigmentation
- acneiform or rosacea
- like eruptions
- Secondary infection
- Rarely
- systemic corticosteroid effects when applied to extensive areas or under occlusion
Precautions
- For external use only
- avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes
- Do not apply to broken skin
- infected lesions
- acne
- rosacea or perioral dermatitis without medical advice
- Avoid prolonged continuous use
- especially on the face and in skin folds
- Use with caution in children
- avoid application to the napkin area under occlusive nappies
- Keep container well closed
- protect from light
- store below 30°C
- Contains chlorocresol 0.1% w/w as preservative
- Keep out of reach of children
- Discontinue and consult a doctor if the condition worsens or does not improve within 7 days
