Indication
Allertec-K (Cetirizine Dihydrochloride 10 mg) is a second-generation antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis (hay fever), allergic conjunctivitis, urticaria (hives), and other allergic skin conditions including pruritus.
Ingredients
- Cetirizine Dihydrochloride
Direction
Adults and children 12 years and over: 10 mg (one tablet) once daily. Children 6–11 years: 5 mg once daily (half tablet). Children 2–5 years: 2.5 mg once daily (consult a doctor). May be taken with or without food. Dose should be reduced in patients with renal impairment.
Side effects
- Drowsiness
- somnolence — common but milder than first
- generation antihistamines.
- Dry mouth
- headache
- dizziness — common.
- Fatigue
- nausea — common.
- Allergic reactions including rash — rare.
- Urinary retention — rare.
Precautions
- Do not use if allergic to cetirizine
- hydroxyzine
- or any ingredient.
- Use with caution in patients with renal impairment — dose adjustment required.
- May cause mild sedation in some patients — use care when driving or operating machinery.
- Avoid alcohol during treatment.
- Use with caution in elderly patients.
- Consult a doctor before use in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Keep out of reach of children.
