Marvelon 28 0.150mg/0.030mg

Indication

Marvelon 28 (Desogestrel 0.150 mg + Ethinylestradiol 0.030 mg) is a combined oral contraceptive pill used for prevention of pregnancy.

Ingredients

• Desogestrel
• Ethinylestradiol

Direction

Take one tablet daily at the same time each day for 28 days. The pack contains 21 active tablets and 7 placebo tablets. Start the next pack immediately after finishing the current one. Follow the arrows on the blister pack.

Side effects

• Nausea
• breast tenderness.
• Headache
• mood changes.
• Irregular spotting or bleeding
• especially in first months.
• Decreased libido.
• Venous thromboembolism (rare but serious).
• Elevated blood pressure.
• Rare: cardiovascular events.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with known or suspected pregnancy.
• Contraindicated in patients with history of venous or arterial thromboembolism.
• Contraindicated in patients with active liver disease or history of jaundice during pregnancy.
• Contraindicated in patients with hormone
• sensitive malignancies (e.g. breast cancer).
• Increased risk of blood clots (DVT
• PE)
• risk higher in smokers
• especially over 35 years.
• Use with caution in patients with hypertension
• diabetes
• or migraine with aura.
• Drug interactions: rifampicin
• some anticonvulsants may reduce efficacy.
• Does not protect against STIs or HIV.
• Keep out of reach of children.
