Trigat 1.5g/15ml

Indication

Almagate is an antacid used to relieve symptoms of heartburn, acid indigestion, sour stomach, and gastroesophageal reflux. It neutralises excess gastric acid and provides symptomatic relief in peptic ulcer disease and gastritis.

Adults: Take 10–20 mL (one to two sachets/doses of the suspension) 1–3 times daily, usually 1–2 hours after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by a physician. Shake well before use.

Side effects

• Constipation (aluminium
• related) or diarrhoea (magnesium
• related) may occur.
• Nausea or chalky taste occasionally reported.
• Prolonged high
• dose use may rarely cause hypermagnesaemia or hyperaluminaemia
• particularly in renal impairment.

Precautions

• Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to almagate or any excipients.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment
• aluminium and magnesium may accumulate.
• May reduce the absorption of other medicines (e.g.
• tetracyclines
• fluoroquinolones
• iron salts)
• separate dosing by at least 2 hours.
• Avoid prolonged use without medical supervision.
• Keep out of reach of children.
