Indication

Povidone-iodine 10% solution is a broad-spectrum topical antiseptic used for the prevention and treatment of wound infections. It is applied to the skin before surgical procedures, for minor cuts, abrasions, and burns, and for skin disinfection. It is effective against bacteria, fungi, viruses, and spores.

Direction

For wound disinfection: Apply directly to the affected area using a swab, cotton pad, or gauze. Allow to dry before dressing. For pre-surgical skin preparation: Apply and allow to act for at least 2 minutes. Do not rinse unless directed by a healthcare professional. Repeat as necessary.

• Thyroid dysfunction with excessive or prolonged use (rare)

Precautions

• Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to iodine or povidone
• iodine.
• Avoid use on large wounds
• deep wounds
• or burns covering large areas without medical supervision.
• Avoid use in neonates and premature infants due to risk of thyroid suppression.
• Use with caution in patients with thyroid disorders.
• Do not use in combination with hydrogen peroxide or mercury
• containing products.
• Avoid prolonged use on large skin areas.
• Keep away from eyes and mucous membranes.
• May stain clothing and skin.
