Indication
Topical antiseptic and antifungal solution used in traditional Cambodian pharmacy practice for minor skin infections, oral thrush, ringworm, and surface wounds, as directed by a doctor or pharmacist.
Ingredients
- Gentian violet (crystal violet)
Direction
For external use only. Apply a small amount of solution to the affected area with a clean cotton swab once or twice daily, or as directed by a doctor or pharmacist. Allow to dry. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes (unless specifically directed). Keep tightly closed.
Side effects
- May cause local skin staining
- mild irritation
- redness
- or allergic reaction. Rarely
- mucosal ulceration with repeated use on mucous membranes. Stop use and consult a doctor or pharmacist if irritation
- ulceration
- or allergy occurs.
Precautions
- For external use only. Stains skin
- clothing
- and surfaces. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not apply to deep wounds
- severe burns
- or ulcerated lesions without medical advice. Do not use on broken or bleeding skin extensively. Use with caution in infants and pregnant women — consult a doctor or pharmacist. Stop use if irritation or allergy occurs.
