OK Injection (Quality Birth Spacing) 150 mg / 1 ml

Indication

Long-acting progestogen-only contraceptive injection for quality birth spacing — provides ~3 months of contraception per dose. Distributed by PSI Cambodia under the 'OK' brand of family-planning products.

Ingredients

• Medroxyprogesterone Acetate 150 mg per 1 ml vial

Direction

150 mg (1 ml) is given by deep intramuscular injection into the gluteal or deltoid muscle once every 3 months (12–13 weeks). First dose within the first 5 days of menstruation; if given later, additional contraception is recommended for 7 days. Administered by a trained healthcare professional only.

Side effects

• Common: irregular bleeding
• amenorrhoea
• weight gain
• headache
• mood changes
• decreased libido
• breast tenderness.
• Less common: acne
• hair loss
• hot flushes
• dizziness.
• Serious (rare): allergic reactions
• thromboembolic events
• significant decrease in bone mineral density with long
• term use
• severe depression.
• Seek immediate medical attention for severe abdominal pain
• chest pain
• sudden severe headache
• shortness of breath
• or signs of an allergic reaction.
