Indication
CREACIL contains cefalexin (cephalexin), a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It is indicated for bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and soft tissue, and ear infections (otitis media).
Ingredients
- Cefalexin 500 mg
Direction
Adults: 250β500 mg every 6 hours, or 500 mgβ1 g twice daily for 7β14 days. Children: 25β50 mg/kg/day in divided doses. Take with or without food.
Side effects
- Nausea and gastrointestinal discomfort.
- Diarrhoea.
- Skin rash.
- Allergic reactions.
- Elevated liver enzymes (rare).
Precautions
- Use with caution in patients with penicillin allergy (cross
- reactivity possible).
- Dose adjustment required in renal impairment.
- Risk of antibiotic
- associated diarrhoea.
- Complete the full prescribed course.
