Indication
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and coronary artery disease, including chronic stable angina and vasospastic angina.
Ingredients
- Amlodipine besylate USP equivalent to amlodipine 5 mg
Direction
As directed by the physician. The usual adult starting dose is 5 mg once daily; the maximum dose is 10 mg once daily. Elderly patients or patients with liver impairment may be started on 2.5 mg once daily. Do not exceed the indicated dose.
Side effects
- Swelling of the ankles or feet (edema)
- Tiredness
- dizziness or drowsiness
- Flushing
- headache or heart palpitations
- Nausea or abdominal pain
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist if any side effect is troublesome or persists
- and stop use if an allergic reaction occurs.
Precautions
- Prescription drug: use only under the direction of a physician and do not exceed the indicated dose.
- Read the enclosed package insert carefully before use.
- May cause low blood pressure
- especially in patients with severe aortic stenosis
- chest pain may rarely worsen when starting or increasing the dose.
- Tell your doctor if you have liver disease
- the dose may need to be increased slowly.
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Keep out of reach of children.
