Indication
Mucolytic that reduces the viscosity of uninfected bronchial secretions in bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, cystic fibrosis and pulmonary emphysema.
Ingredients
- Bromhexine hydrochloride BP 8 mg
Direction
Oral route. Adults and children 12 years and over: 1 tablet (8 mg) three times a day when necessary; may be increased to 2 tablets (16 mg) three times a day for the first seven days. Children 6-11 years: 1 tablet 2-3 times a day when necessary.
Side effects
- Nausea
- vomiting
- diarrhoea or stomach upset
- Headache or dizziness
- Sweating
- Transient rise in liver enzymes (rare)
- Rarely
- rash or allergic reactions
- including severe skin reactions
- stop use and seek medical help
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist if any unusual effect occurs
Precautions
- Do not use if allergic to bromhexine or any ingredient
- Use with caution in peptic ulcer
- and in liver or kidney impairment
- Use with caution in asthma
- mucolytics may increase bronchial secretions
- Treatment should not exceed 8
- 10 days without medical advice
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if pregnant
- breastfeeding or taking other medicines
