Metrogyl 200 mg / 5 ml

Indication

Antibacterial and antiprotozoal oral suspension for infections caused by anaerobic bacteria and protozoa, including intestinal and hepatic amoebiasis, giardiasis, trichomoniasis, bacterial vaginosis, anaerobic infections and dental/gum infections, as prescribed by a doctor.

Ingredients

• Metronidazole Benzoate BP eq. to Metronidazole 200 mg / 5 ml

Direction

Oral use. Shake well before use. Dosage as directed by the physician, based on age/body weight and the infection being treated (typically every 8 hours for 5–10 days). Use the measuring cup provided and complete the full course.

• Metallic or bitter taste in the mouth
• Headache or dizziness
• Dark
• coloured urine (harmless)
• Rarely

Precautions

• Prescription medicine
• use only as directed by a doctor
• Do not use if allergic to metronidazole or other nitroimidazoles
• Do not drink alcohol during treatment and for at least 48 hours after the last dose
• Use with caution in liver disease
• blood disorders or nervous system disease
• May interact with warfarin
• lithium and other medicines
• tell your doctor about all medicines being taken
• Avoid in the first trimester of pregnancy
• consult a doctor or pharmacist if pregnant or breastfeeding
• Keep out of reach of children
