Tusalene 5 mg

Indication

Phenothiazine antihistamine with sedative and anti-emetic action, used in the management of allergic conditions such as urticaria (hives) and pruritus (itching). Read the package leaflet for full indications.

Ingredients

• Alimemazine tartrate 5 mg

Direction

Oral route. Adults and children 12 years and older: usually 10 mg (2 tablets) two to three times daily. Doses for younger children are lower and must be set by a physician. Read the package leaflet carefully.

Side effects

• Drowsiness or sedation
• especially at the start of treatment
• Dizziness
• blurred vision and dry mouth
• Constipation or difficulty passing urine
• Nausea
• vomiting or stomach upset
• Rarely
• abnormal muscle movements (dystonia)
• irregular heartbeat or convulsions
• stop use and seek medical help

Precautions

• Do not use in children under 2 years or if allergic to alimemazine or other phenothiazines
• Causes drowsiness
• do not drive or operate machinery and avoid alcohol and other sedatives
• Use with caution in epilepsy
• liver or kidney disease
• heart disease
• glaucoma
• enlarged prostate and in the elderly
• May increase sensitivity to sunlight
• avoid strong sun exposure
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if pregnant or breastfeeding
• Keep out of the reach of children
