Cefixsyn 200 mg

Indication

Third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic for bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms, such as urinary tract infections, otitis media, pharyngitis and tonsillitis, acute bronchitis and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, and uncomplicated gonorrhoea.

Ingredients

• Cefixime (as trihydrate) 200 mg

Direction

As directed by the physician. Usual adult dose: 400 mg daily, given as 200 mg every 12 hours or 400 mg once daily, with or without food. Complete the full course.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea
• loose stools
• abdominal pain
• nausea and indigestion.
• Headache or dizziness.
• Skin rash
• itching or other allergic reactions
• antibiotic
• associated colitis may occur (seek medical advice if severe diarrhoea).
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs.

Precautions

• Prescription antibiotic
• complete the full course as directed by a doctor.
• Do not use if allergic to cefixime or other cephalosporins
• use with caution if allergic to penicillins.
• Dose adjustment may be needed in kidney impairment.
• Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
