Cephalexin 500mg

Indication

Cephalexin is a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the skin, soft tissue, respiratory tract, urinary tract, bone, and ear.

Ingredients

• Cephalexin 500 mg

Direction

Adults: 250–500 mg every 6 hours (or 500 mg every 12 hours for uncomplicated infections). Take for the full prescribed course, with or without food.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea
• nausea
• vomiting
• abdominal pain — common.
• Skin rash
• urticaria — common.
• Allergic reactions including anaphylaxis — rare.
• Pseudomembranous colitis — rare.

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to cephalosporins or penicillins.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment — dose adjustment may be required.
• May cause false
• positive urine glucose tests.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Complete the full course of treatment.
