Indication
Atenolol Denk 50 is a selective beta-1 adrenergic blocker used to treat hypertension, angina pectoris, and cardiac arrhythmias, and to reduce mortality after acute myocardial infarction.
Ingredients
- Atenolol 50 mg
Direction
Adults: 50 mg once daily, taken with or without food. Dose may be increased to 100 mg daily if required. Take at the same time each day.
Side effects
- Bradycardia
- fatigue — common.
- Cold hands and feet — common.
- Dizziness
- depression — uncommon.
- Bronchospasm — uncommon in susceptible patients.
- Vivid dreams
- sleep disturbances — uncommon.
Precautions
- Do not stop suddenly — taper gradually.
- Contraindicated in cardiogenic shock
- second/third
- degree AV block
- severe bradycardia
- and uncontrolled heart failure.
- Use with caution in asthma and COPD.
- May mask hypoglycaemia in diabetics.
- Dose adjustment required in renal impairment.
- Keep out of reach of children.
