Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, peptic ulcer disease, and conditions of excessive stomach acid secretion such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach.
Adults: Take one 40 mg tablet once daily, usually in the morning, 30β60 minutes before a meal. Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew. Duration as directed by physician, typically 4β8 weeks for GERD or peptic ulcer. Not recommended for routine use in children without specialist advice.
