Zopan-40 Pantoprazole 40mg

Indication

Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, peptic ulcer disease, and conditions of excessive stomach acid secretion such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach.

Ingredients

• Pantoprazole 40 mg

Direction

Adults: Take one 40 mg tablet once daily, usually in the morning, 30–60 minutes before a meal. Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew. Duration as directed by physician, typically 4–8 weeks for GERD or peptic ulcer. Not recommended for routine use in children without specialist advice.

Side effects

• Headache
• Diarrhoea
• Nausea
• Abdominal pain or flatulence
• Dizziness
• Skin rash (rare)
• Hypomagnesaemia with prolonged use

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to pantoprazole or any other PPI.
• Long
• term use (>1 year) may increase risk of osteoporosis
• related fractures
• hypomagnesaemia
• and vitamin B12 deficiency.
• May mask symptoms of gastric cancer
• rule out malignancy before starting treatment.
• Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
• May interact with methotrexate
• atazanavir
• and clopidogrel — consult physician.
• Inform your doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding before use.
